The new financial year comes with three key changes in the Migration policies in Australia.  Here they are:

Changes to Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL) and Skilled Occupation List (SOL)

The following changes were made to the SOL and CSOL lists, on or after 1 July 2014

The following occupations will be added to the SOL:

Chef (ANZSCO) 351311)
Bricklayer (ANZSCO 331111)
Wall and Floor Tiler (ANZSCO 333411)

The following occupations were added to the CSOL:

Hydrogeologist  (ANZSCO 234413)
Exercise Physiologist (ANZSCO 234915)

The following titles of occupations have changed:

Ship\’s Surveyor will be titled Marine Surveyor (ANZSCO 231215)
General Medical Practitioner will be titled General Practitioner (ANZSCO 253111)

New or changes to skills assessing authorities have been specified for the following occupations:

Nurse Manager (ANZSCO 254311): ANMAC
Nurse Educator (ANZSCO 254211): ANMAC
Nurse Researcher (ANZSCO 254212): ANMAC.
Marine Transport Professional NEC (ANZSCO 231299): VETASSESS

Introduction of validity period of Skills Assessment

From the 1st of July 2014, the validity of skills assessment is three years from the date of issue unless the assessment specifies an earlier expiration date.  This is applicable for all visas that require Skills Assessment which includes visa sub classes 189, 190, and 485.

Credit Card Surcharge

From the 1st of July 2014, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) will charge the following credit card surcharge fees on nomination fees or charges on sponsorship fees or charges, visa evidence charges or fees, and visa application charges or fees:

Credit Card Applicable surcharge
Visa or MasterCard 1.08%
Express or Japan Credit Bureau (JCB) 1.99%
Diners Club International 2.91%
